Sunny Brow Nursery School | Middleton, Greater Manchester, UK

SBNS

Challenge:

Sunny Brow Nursery School is located in a beautiful Grade 2 listed property near Middleton, Greater Manchester. When LED Distribution met with the owners, they were already in the process of renovating the property, as and when budget allowed. Although the school had not ruled out switching to lighting to LED lighting, it was lower priority due to concerns over expense and interference with day-to-day activities.
爱爱动态壁纸 Despite this, the school felt that the incumbent lighting was not only outdated but was also failing to provide adequate lighting levels. LED Distribution therefore carried out an audit as part of their quoting process, confirming that the lighting levels were indeed breaching minimum UK regulations.

Solution:

Taking into account the use and appearance of the building and corresponding lighting requirements, LED Distribution designed a new LED lighting system, comprising 49 suspended linear lights across all teaching and staff rooms. The new lighting was carefuly designed and selected to complement the historical appearance of the building and suit the recent refurbishment.
With careful consideration of the use and appearance of the building, LED Distribution designed a new LED lighting system, comprising 49 suspended linear lights across all teaching and staff rooms. The new lighting was thoroughly designed and selected to complement the historical appearance of the building and suit the recent refurbishment.
With input from Sunny Brow Nursery, LED Distribution chose LED fittings, which would provide a homogenous, glare free light distribution. Rated at 500+ lux, the new lighting now produces a clear and bright light, which is perfect for creating a safe environment in which children can work and play.
The new system not only greatly improves the working environment, but also consumes 49% less energy than the original lighting – thereby overcoming any original concerns around cost.

"LED Distribution has done a good job” explains Janet Cook, head teacher at Sunny Brow. “Despite our original concerns, the installation of the new LED lighting has had minimal impact on our daily business, thanks to their ability to work flexibly around our needs.
We love the bright and clear light. It really makes a huge difference and it saves us money, too."

Baumberg-Gym | Havixbeck, Germany

LED Distribution | Projects | Gym (Baumberg-Sporthalle) | Havixbeck, Germany

Challenge:

爱爱动态壁纸With outdated lighting, the owners of Baumberg-Gym decided it was time to upgrade to LED technology. They also wanted to see a quick return on their investment. “We wanted to brighten the place up, but not at any cost”, explained Bernhard Haschke. Providing a lighting solution, which would significantly improve the illuminance as well as operate flexibly across each section of the 3-part gym, was of upmost importance.

Solution:

爱爱动态壁纸A highbay system was therefore installed with 42 high-efficiency (135lm/W) made-in-Germany canopy lamps, connected via a matrix circuit to provide an optional lighting level of 350 or 650 Lux in each section. and the solution also delivered a homogenous light distribution in each operating mode. With shock proof fixtures, anti-glare lighting and a 5 year guarantee, the newly installed lighting system also achieves energy cost savings of up to £10,000 per year.

Facts:

Old lighting: 174 raster luminaires with 4×5“ tubes (174 x 130W)
New lighting: 42 x 180W canopy lights
Energy Savings: 67%
Return on Investment: 28 months

Soccer Hall (KickOff Arena) | Braunschweig, Germany

LED Distribution | Projects | Soccer Hall (KickOff Arena) | Braunschweig, Germany

Challenge:

Long operating times and high energy consumption were the main reasons behind migrating to a more efficient and economical LED lighting solution. The site owners also wanted to improve the light levels in the arena, so bright LED highbays were needed to replace the 250W metal halide bulbs. In addition, reliability of the lighting was also an issue due to the harsh operating environment, so light fittings with specific protection of the LED electronics were chosen to protect the fittings from dust and large temperature and humidity variance.

Solution:

爱爱动态壁纸The customer decided to stay with the highbay lamps and change the bulbs for corn lights. The 13,000lm corn lights have greatly improved visibility in the sports hall, to the benefit of the football players.

Facts:

Old lighting:30 x 250W Highbay lights + ballaste (30 x 320W)
New lighting: 30 x 120W corn light
Energy Savings:  62%
Return on Investment: 23 months

Indoor Tennis Center (TC Havixbeck e.V.) | Havixbeck, Germany

LED Distribution | Projects | Indoor Tennis Center (TC Havixbeck e.V.) | Havixbeck, Germany

Challenge:

The tennis club had previously explored the option of upgrading to LED lighting, but always found the new proposals to be insufficiently bright for the requirements or prohibitively expensive. The existing lighting – 3 x 5“ raster luminaires – were over 30 years old and the fittings were in poor condition with washed softeners. At the top of their priority list was to improve the visibility on the courts. To achieve this, the lighting needed to exceed 300 lm on the court area, as well as ensuring sufficient contrast between a tennis ball and the background and that the light colour met the Tennis Association’s specification (>4000K).

Solution:

爱爱动态壁纸The existing raster luminaires were refurbished, all fittings were changed and instead of the fluorescent tubes LED Distribution installed 5“/3600lm LED tubes. As a result, the light levels have been increased by 15-20%, which far exceeds the required 350 lux. At the same time, the club is enjoying energy savings of more than 50% as well as dramatically reducing maintenance costs.

Facts:

Old lighting:80 raster luminaires with 3×5“ tubes + ballast (240 x 65W)
New lighting: 240 x 30W 5“ LED tube (incl. lamp refurbishment)
Energy Savings:  54%
Return on Investment: 26 months

Supermarket (Superasia) | Glasgow, Scotland

LED Distribution | Projects | Supermarket (Superasia) | Glasgow, Scotland

Challenge:

爱爱动态壁纸Bright lighting is essential for any supermarket to maximise food sales. With long opening times (13 hours per day, 360 days a year) and inefficient, worn out raster luminaires, the shop was suffering from high operating costs. The new lighting solution was designed to address both these issues; delivering a brighter light quality while consuming less energy. The owners also wanted to improve the shopfront by installing a more attractive LED graphics display.

Solution:

LED Distribution installed the highest quality TÜV certified 1200mm x 600mm panels. Not only did the brighter lighting dramatically improve the ambience in the shop, but also achieved significant savings and delivered a return on investment of less than 1 year. Working with the shop owner, LED Distribution also designed and installed a new shop front display. The modern shape with white letters on a black background attract people into a friendly and customer focused shop.

Facts:

Old lighting:56 raster luminaires with 4×4“ tubes + ballast (224 x 42W)
New lighting: 56 x 60W LED panel (1200mm*600mm)
Energy Savings:  64%
Return on Investment: 20 months

Wholesales (LTC) | Glasgow, Scotland

LED Distribution | Projects | Wholesales (LTC) | Glasgow, Scotland

Challenge:

爱爱动态壁纸Good lighting in wholesale stores is paramount for customers to comfortably browse the product range. The ideal lighting in this scenario should produce a homogenous brightness. The previous lighting (single tube fittings with 8“ fluorescent tubes and reflector) matched these requirements on the whole. However, due to long opening times and the fact that 8“ fluorescent tubes are very inefficient operating costs were very high. When previously exploring the option of installing 8“ LED tubes from other LED manufacturers, the results were disappointing.

Solution:

By testing LED Distribution’s products in the warehouse, the 8“ LED tubes not only proved to be brighter than the fluorescent incumbents, but by installing them throughout the warehouse, the reduced energy consumption was projected to yield a return on investment of less than 1.5 years.

Facts:

Old lighting: 30 x 250W Highbay Light + Vorschaltgerät (30 x 320W)
New lighting: 30 x 120W Corn Light
Energy Savings:  62%
Return on Investment: 23 months

Logistics (DSV) | Venlo, Netherlands

LED Distribution | Projects | Logistics (DSV) | Venlo, Netherlands

Challenge:

Like most warehouses, a variety of activities are carried out inside DSV‘s logistic buildings; from picking, assembly and distributing, to administration and storage. The health and safety of employees was also critical with the heavy traffic coming in and out of the warehouse area. Achieving an adequately homogenous light distribution in the narrow walkways between the 49“ highbay racks, however, was a challenge. DSV’s existing lighting comprised mainly 5“ tubes with highly effective reflectors. However, this technology was energy intensive and counted for the majority of the power consumption on site.

Solution:

爱爱动态壁纸LED Distribution installed narrow beam angle tubes (30°) in the highbay rack area using the existing fittings. The new lighting is both 3 times more energy efficient than the previous setup and twice as efficient than the alternative proposal of installing regular tubes. Furthermore, the design of LED Distribution’s fittings incorporate a single integrated lens rather than separate lenses in front of each LED chip, significantly reducing the cost-per-unit compared to other linear light solutions. The switch delivered a more homogenous light distribution and the racks and flooring areas are now illuminated where they weren’t previously.

Facts:

Old lighting:5“/58W tubes + ballast (65W) / fitting with 60° reflector
New lighting: 5“/42W LED tube/30° beam angle in every 3rd fitting
Energy Savings:  67%
Return on Investment: 30 months

Wholesales (Sher) | Glasgow, Scotland

LED Distribution | Projects | Wholesales (Sher) | Glasgow, Scotland

Challenge:

The 30ft warehouse building is stuffed with more than 30 highbay racks divided by small corridors.Inside Sher Bros’ premises, more than 30 high-bay racks are tightly packed into the 40(square feet[?]) space. The company wanted to replace the old and inefficient metal halide lowbay lights, but had previously experienced poor results when testing other LED high-bay units. Not only was the light level insufficient but also cast a blue hue over the warehouse. The new lighting proposal was designed to provide both more light than the existing fittings and achieve the highest possible savings and quickest return on investment ratio, all while producing a light colour of between 4000K and 4500K.

Solution:

In order to achieve the highest energy efficiency, LED Distribution came up with the solution of 2 narrow beam tubes (30°) in a double fitting, so that the light was directed exactly where it was needed. Compared to all other available solutions at that time (2014), LED Distribution’s improved the energy efficiency by 50% more, while minimising the unit price.

Facts:

Old lighting:96 x 400W lowbay light + ballast (96 x 500W)
New lighting: 192 x 42W /5“/30° narrow beam LED tube (incl. double fitting )
Energy Savings: 83%
Return on Investment: 10,5 months
